Our Activities and Events
In the Riley Park Community Garden, our ‘potting studio’ fieldhouse space and in the park, our activities respond to a community need for a collective public space where people can engage in co-creation, feel a sense of belonging and ownership, and increase networks. Our workshops and education reflect our garden groups’ core vision to improve food security, ecological sustainability, and community development.
In Riley Park, there is the learning garden and the main garden. In our main garden, we offer the opportunity to work alongside Master Gardeners and learn about caring for pollinator plants, experiment with growing a variety of food, and learn about composting.
We also hold many events and workshops including: Cooking In The Garden (preserving and putting food by), Seniors in the Park days, and multicultural celebrations.
If you are interested in participating in our Guided Work Parties, we ask that you sign up online. By signing up and participating, you agree to the Volunteer Gardeners Agreement and are familiar with the Food Hub Handbook. Our Guided Work Parties are led by Master Gardeners.
If you are interested in volunteering in other ways besides gardening, you can help with marketing and communications, work at our Farmers Market Donation Station, or organize events and workshops. For more information, send us an email.
The garden is a food security project of Little Mountain Neighbourhood House. It is a communal garden where volunteers share the work and the harvest. 1/3rd of the produce is also grown for the LMNHS programs. info@rileyparkgarden.org @LMNHVancouver, @rileyparkcommunitygarden
