Virtual Community Kitchen

“Canoe Creek Community Kitchen is a learning and sharing space, where like-minded folks come together to cook, preserve, and create using food as our medium.” They are now offering virtual cooking sessions.

“Now is the time for various seasonal fruits… Cherries and Raspberries are in full swing and apricots and plums are coming up. I am eating my fill and putting aside some beautiful ripe fruit by freezing it on sheet pans and storing in freezer bags. This works well for fruits that you get in small batches at various times.
I am currently freezing raspberries, Saskatoon berries and black currants as I pick then now. You can also preserve fruit in juice or syrup by processing in a boiling water bath to create shelf stable products you can enjoy in the winter.

Here are the handouts on basic processes. Happy canning to you!”

Asking for Recipes

As part of our Harvest Matchmaking Program, we are asking for recipes to share with our community and participants of the program.

Depending on the contents of the food bags each week, we will ask for recipes containing a certain vegetable.

This week, we are asking for lettuce recipes! Be creative!
